Secondary Music

It has been a real pleasure teaching the secondary girls in music electives this year. We have covered so much with youthful vigour and joy and laughter and I am very proud of each student's accomplishments.

During the year, we have learned how to play drums, keyboards and guitar and methods to learn these instruments. We have learned how to read music and learn other composer's music as well as creating our own music.

We have looked into recording software that is free for all (Audacity) and how we can manipulate sounds to create entirely new sounds for example; we turned a bird sound into a dinosaur or monster sound. We have also looked into how movies create the sound effects. This program Audacity is what I would recommend to any student who wants to create music, sound effects or just add a little spice to their PowerPoint presentations or web content. Mr Webb

Audacity

"If I were not a physicist, I would probably be a musician. I often think in music. I live my daydreams in music. I see my life in terms of music."
― Albert Einstein

LOTE

Hello everyone;

Technology is very much part of language learning throughout the world at all different levels. As Turkish department we are implementing edutainment activities throughout all year levels. Students are enjoying their lesson as they learn subconsciously.

Here are some students` thoughts and some photos of TSL students learning Turkish via games and fun- filled activities.

  1. Kahoot helps me in my learning because it refreshes my memory of what have already learned in class and helps me work faster and more carefully.
  2. I like playing Kahoot in class

It also gives us a fun break, but at the same time we are learning. We also get competitive to get on the leader board which is super fun.

Kahoot helps me learn a lot. It keeps me and everyone in the class alert and focused on what we are meant to be learning. We are all quite competitive and determined to get as many as questions right as we can. I have got to admit a big reason I like playing Kahoot because is because I am always in the top 5 on the leader board

Day of Dialogue

Sirius College Keysborough Campus RV students had the opportunity to attend the 'Day of Dialogue' at Our Lady of Sion College. It was a remarkable experience for students, who had the opportunity to exchange opinions and build mutual understanding with students from Muslim, Christian and Jewish faiths. Students were involved in various activities and panels throughout the day that allowed them to develop further understandings of the different Abrahamic faiths and build positive relationships and social cohesion.

Psychology

VCE Psychology

Here we are having some fun in Unit 4 Psychology. Pictured here we are completing a jigsaw puzzle. This was completed 3 times with each attempt being timed. We discovered that each attempt was completed faster due to neuronal changes that occur in the brain.

The students also enjoyed making bow ties using the measured of origami. The students were analysing this activity in reference to observational learning theory. These two activities were a part of a total of 7, demonstrating different learning theories which will form the basis of their major SAC for Unit 4 Psychology.
